The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) is the oldest drama school in the UK and has been offering examinations in speech and drama for over 130 years.
What to Expect
LAMDA lesson should be creative, challenging and a lot of fun. The right relaxed and supportive learning environment will ensure that you succeed.
Lessons can be in person or online, depending on your situation.
There are a range of LAMDA subjects available depending on your preference. In your first session we will identify what you would like to get out of the sessions and select a pathway that is best suited to you.
Performance Courses
Acting
The acting option is designed to develop the skills necessary to communicate dramatic text to an audience.
You will develop in:
Interpretive skills in how build character and inhabit an imaginary world.
Technical skills in voice, diction and movement.
Knowledge of the performance process and key acting practitioners.
Communication Courses
Speaking Verse and Prose
The speaking verse and prose option is designed to develop the skills necessary for effective oral communication of the written word.
You will develop in:
Interpretive skills in how to engage imaginatively with text.
Technical skills in voice, diction and posture.
Knowledge of literature and how to communicate this through speech.
